In 2009, for the first time in Uttara Kannada’s history, the monsoon took lives instead of giving: 24 people died, particularly in Karwar, Siddapur and Dandeli, with huge damage in every sector.

Background

Kadamba rushed to the field well before local government could. Volunteers visited all affected areas within hours and began relief work spontaneously.

Clothes, food grains and daily necessities were distributed to more than 5,000 people. Relief was also supplied in flood-affected Mantralaya, Andhra Pradesh.
