Propagating sandalwood cultivation on agricultural land is one of Kadamba’s pro-farmer movements in Uttara Kannada district. Many farmers now cultivate sandalwood on their agricultural wasteland with Kadamba’s guidance and assistance.

Background

Kadamba started the movement for sandalwood cultivation in 2010, with guidance from the forest and horticulture departments. The initiative integrates agroforestry with income generation and environmental conservation.
