In the mountainous territory of the district, Kadamba — with the Union Government’s Social Welfare Board and the active participation of local people — began “Kadamba Shishu Vihar”. A single experimental centre grew to 25 crèches in far-flung areas.
Background
Many villages in the remote, hilly Western Ghats of Uttara Kannada are more or less cut off from the outside world, and most welfare schemes fail to penetrate the forests.
Kadamba works for these communities irrespective of caste, community or religion — providing guidance, training and every possible assistance.
