Training villagers as community health representatives and using street plays and youth engagement to spread awareness.

Recognising that awareness is the foundation of good health, Kadamba has led large-scale health awareness initiatives across rural areas.

Background

Managing health and hygiene is one of the biggest tasks in rural India. Despite government programmes like NRHM, many villages remained unaware of the healthcare services available to them.

Kadamba addressed this gap by conducting training programmes for local villagers, empowering them as community health representatives.

Approach

  • Training villagers to serve as community health representatives
  • Street plays and youth engagement to carry messages into villages
  • Awareness on hygiene, sanitation, preventive care and government health schemes
