Resilient, income-generating rural ecosystems

Sustainable Livelihoods

Kadamba enables resilient and income-generating ecosystems across rural communities — beginning with the Self Help Group movement and extending to micro finance, rural insurance and marketing networks.

About this area

Background

The people who live in remote areas of Uttara Kannada had limited access to productive assets, financial resources and social services. Kadamba’s comprehensive approach brought them socio-economic awareness through Self Help Groups.

Financial inclusion schemes such as micro finance, micro credit and rural insurance were introduced through these groups, alongside training in agriculture, animal husbandry, poultry, goat rearing, bee-keeping and fisheries with government agencies.

What we focus on

  • Capacity building, market linkages and rural enterprise development
  • Financial inclusion for the unorganised rural sector
  • Fair market access for farmers and rural producers
